The United States has launched another round of coordinating air strikes against al-Shabaab and allied militants in Somalia.
The strikes against the Islamic State group comes after an ambush by ISIS militants in Syria killed two U.S. service members and their interpreter during anti-insurgent engagement meetings in Syria several days ago.
The operations hit targets in and around Mogadishu and other targets.
AFRICOM, alongside the Federal Government of Somalia and Somali Armed Forces, continues to take action to degrade al-Shabaab’s ability to threaten the U.S. Homeland, our forces, and our citizens abroad.
The U.S. military said that it would not release details of what forces were used to protect those involved in the operations.
