Lamar Elementary Goes on SECURE Protocol Due to Nearby Standoff

Lamar Elementary went on SECURE protocol this morning due to a standoff with a 43-year-old man who was barricaded in a nearby house with a gun.

The unnamed man had allegedly engaged in family violence.

The San Angelo Police Department has stated that they have staged resources to the 5900 block of Southwest Boulevard in the area of Shady Hill Drive and Canyon Rim Drive. SAPD stated that the SWAT team and Tom Green County SRT team have been deployed.

Griffith said there is nothing involving the San Angelo Independent School District and that they deployed at that parking lot due to that’s the closest area that had a parking lot.

He stated that they couldn’t release this information right away because they didn’t want to “tip their hand” to the actual suspect.

Griffith stated he wants to ensure everyone in the neighborhood that there isn’t any threat to them currently. He suggested if you are living in the area just to stay inside for now.

Iranian Protests Continue: U.S. Says Iran Crossing Red Line as Ayatollah Threatens Death Penalty

U.S. President Donald J. Trump has warned Iran’s leadership that they are dangerously close to crossing a U.S. “red line” for acting against that country militarily.

The U.S. threat comes as Iranian government authorities have massacred more than 500 Iranian civilians during protests in Tehran and other Iranian cities in pro-democracy demonstrations.

Iran’s Supreme Leader has threatened the death penalty for protesters and has killed the internet in that country.

The protests are entering their third week of demonstrations and have resulted in the seizure of government buildings and has, for the first time, seriously threatened to topple Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and the Iranian theocracy that has ruled Iran since 1979.

Many called for the return of the Shah, who was deposed during the Islamic Revolution in that country in 1979.

The protests began with young Iranians who were angered by the recent economic collapse caused by U.S. economic sanctions.
