Angelo State Rams, Rambelles Take on Cameron Aggies on the Road

The Angelo State women’s basketball team returned to the win column Thursday night, pulling away in the second half for a 78-57 victory over Cameron at Aggie Gym.

With the win, the Rambelles improved to 4-8 overall and 2-4 in Lone Star Conference play.

The teams traded baskets early, with each side scoring 22 points in the opening quarter before Cameron carried a one-point lead into the break. Angelo State took control after halftime, outscoring the Aggies 45-23 in the second half to secure the road win.

Angelo State shot 42.9 percent from the field, 28.1 percent from 3-point range and 90 percent from the free-throw line. The Rambelles forced 21 turnovers while committing 11 and held a 33-31 rebounding advantage.

Majik Esquivel led all scorers with 27 points, adding four rebounds and two steals. Taylor Grona followed with 24 points on 50 percent shooting from beyond the arc while contributing five steals, five rebounds and two assists.

Landry Morrow added 11 points to round out the Rambelles’ double-figure scorers. Halle Hughes scored her first collegiate points, while Kenna Wood, Tristin Keller and Chidera Ezeilo also chipped in towards the victory.

The Angelo State men’s basketball team dropped its first road game of the 2026 calendar year on Thursday evening, falling to Cameron 76-71 inside Aggie Gym.

The hosts scored the final 13 points in the game over the final 1:54 of the contest to overturn the Rams’ eight-point lead.

The Rams shot 45.9 percent from the field and 35 percent from three.

Kailon Nicholls led the Rams with 20 points while recording three rebounds, two assists, and two steals.

Davon Scott, playing his first collegiate game in his home state of Oklahoma, scored 15 points, shooting 3-for-5 from three.

Jaqai Murray and Ashraf Barsham scored ten points each. Barsham led the Rams with nine rebounds, one shy of recording his first double-double at Angelo State.

Zyon Little scored five points and grabbed eight rebounds, and Jhordan Ryan contributed four points and seven rebounds. The Rams controlled the boards, out-rebounding the Aggies 36-25.
